USING MICROSOFT ACCESS SOFTWARE FOR PATIENTS FOLLOW-UP OF ABNORMAL PAP SMEARS

Abstract

Objectives: We started using the Microsoft Access skills in resolving the unmet informatics need for case management from the perspective of end user computing for this reason, we created databases in Microsoft Access for all data on Abnormal Pap Smear test patients to see if the databases would benefit the increase return for follow-up.

Methods: Data used for analysis were collected from 01/01/2004 to 12/31/2011 Abnormal Pap Smear test at Changhua Christian hospital which located in the middle of Taiwan.

Results: The software could quickly understand the opportunities of using Microsoft Access in case management. It is also not necessary to write sophisticated programs. However, Our finding that women had an abnormal Pap smears (ASCUS, LGSIL, and HGSIL) were 4556 cases. Which been diagnosed with invasive cervical cancer 0.4% and in situ cancer were 5.6%.

Conclusion: We having the Microsoft Access skills are valuable in case management. From our results, we conclude that women with abnormal Pap smear results after screening by a case management needed to ensure timely follow-up.
